Halloween Spooktacular!

Any guesses on this weeks FFF challenge? I’ll give you two clues it’s October 31, and BOO! You guessed it HALLOWEEN! Let’s see what spooky creations we can make. Hmmm.... Maybe I can make something "candy" related? Guess you will have to wait to see what I come up with.

So do you celebrate Halloween? It used to be one of my favorite holidays because you got to dress up and be anything you wanted for 1 day! Plus who can complain about free candy? Did you ever have a favorite costume? I think mine was when I dressed up as a harim girl. I loved that costume it was purple (which was my favorite color even back when I was a kid). Of course in Michigan we usually had to wear many layers under our costumes since Halloween is usually pretty chilly.

Lemon juice Technique

I know lemons have a lot of uses. I put lemon in my water or tea. I also love putting the lemon rinds in my garbage disposal - it makes my whole kitchen smell so good. But this week lemons are taking on paper crafting! For our Fun-Filled Friday challenge Jen and I are going to try out the lemon juice technique - here is a tutorial from the Stamp Shack. Looks pretty easy huh? I guess I have to go get some lemons:)

Well, this morning we are heading over to my sister in laws. Her hubby is making us breakfast and we are going to look over their wedding pictures and watch their wedding DVD. Since my DH and I work midnights we decided a breakfast would work out much better than dinner.

Scallops anyone???

I think it’s about time to pull out the scallop punches. So this week’s challenge is all about the Scallops. I don’t have any nesties yet so it just the Marvy Uchida punches for me! Maybe I can dust off my wishblade to get some other sizes. Can’t wait to see what Jen and I come up with this week. This challenge should be a little easier for us since we aren’t learning any new techniques this week.

Under the Sea

I have to start off by saying Happy Birthday to my big sister so “Happy birthday Tracey!!!” Hope you are having a wonderful day.

Now that I have gotten the super important stuff out of the way, you know what time it is…. FFF challenge announcement. So for this week Jen decided we are going to make “under the sea” cards. Anything “under the sea” related. I think she wants to use her Rubbernecker fishes.

Pop Up Cards!

This week I thought I would challenge Jen to Pop up cards. There are so many different ways to make pop up cards, but I am going to use this tutorial from Splitcoaststampers. I LOVE how this card looks. The directions don't look too difficult either.

I made a pop up card a few weeks ago for a challenge on Scrap N Circle. They had an 8 week long cardmaking contest and that was one of the challenges. I wasn't too happy with how that card turned out, but it was my first try.

Reflection Scenery cards

Some of the past few FFF challenges have been new techniques for me. This week is no different. Jen has decided it’s time we try reflection scenery cards. These sure look gorgeous when they are done. Hopefully I can find an easy to follow tutorial and come up with something fabulous. If you have any tips or good tutorials let me know!

With Deepest Sympathy

I have always had a difficult time making sympathy cards. I don’t know if it’s because it’s not a “happy” category, or because I just can’t seem to find the right words. So for this week I decided to make our challenge Sympathy cards. I haven’t been too successful with any of my attempts, so I thought it was about time to try again. I can’t wait to see what Jen comes up with. I may have to do some searching for ideas.

Do you make sympathy cards? For a while I didn’t feel like I could make an appropriate sympathy card, but maybe I can. I would love to see your sympathy cards. Maybe they can give me some ideas. And remember to post a link to your sympathy creations in my comments to be entered for blog candy.

Bleach - not just for cleaning

Bleach, in papercrafting? YUP! This week we are giving bleaching a try. There are a few ways to use bleach in your papercrafts. Here is a tutorial from Splitcoaststampers. I am very excited to give it a try.

VELLUM

My company is gone and hopefully today I can get back to some crafting! We cleaned up the house yesterday and did some shopping and TONS of laundry! It was so nice to see everyone, but all the fun must come to an end. Now it's back to work and normal activities. I am hoping to catch up on everything and do some serious crafting this week. I have been going through withdrawals. Too bad I will make a big old mess with all my supplies! I have some really cute pictures from my SIL's wedding and just some everyday pics. I will try to post them once I get back into the swing of things. I have been on a day shift for 2 weeks and switching back to mids for work is going to be a little rough. Well.... On with the challenge!

I decided for this week’s challenge we should try something new (well at least new to me). So for this week we have to use vellum on our creations. I didn’t give any specifications on how, but I am going to try a technique I read about (which is the new to me part). Hope it works out – if not you will see a simpler use of vellum Friday.

Polka Dots anyone???

Heat embossing

The ball’s back in my court. My turn to give the FFF challenge. I decided it’s time to pull out the heat gun and lets do some heat embossing. I am going to give a new technique a try, but I don’t want to give anything away so you will have to check Friday to see how I did.

Pink and Green

FOR THE BIRDS!

This weeks challenge from Jen was to use Birds as a theme. A special thanks to my friend Beth for letting me stamp the image I used this week. Like I said Sunday - I am a bird person and I loved this stamp the minute I saw it. I have been in a bit of a marker mood lately - have you noticed? So I tried to blend a bit with my Prismacolor markers. I think my marker coloring is improving, now I just need some more colors. Well back to the challenge :

To make this card I started with the image. I thought the bird on the right had to be a cardinal. The one on the left I made blue just because I like those colors together. After coloring the image I cut it out and used my SU! ticket corner punch on the corners. Then I matted the image on red cardstock and again used the ticket corner punch. Next, I matted the image again on dark blue and put white brads in each of the corners. I wa now stuck with a red and blue theme. So I dug through all my pattern paper and found this red and white pattern I thought went well. I cut the pattern paper to 4" x 5 1/4" and used the ticket corner punch. Then I wrapped a piece of red, white and blue ribbon around the pattern paper. Next I glued that to a dark blue A2 sized cardbase. Finally I used pop-dots to glue down the matted image and I was done. This was a very quick card to make. Maybe I should submit it for Take Ten?

FFF Challenge Announcement

The summer makes me think of outdoors alot! How about you? Jen must think of the outdoors too because this week she gave the theme of Birds. I don't know if I have any bird type stamps so I will have to take a peek.

I have always been a bird person, my first pet was a parakeet. Then we had cockatiels after that. My mom still has 2. They can be noisy but they can also be very sweet and cuddly. Yes birds will cuddle. I am more of a dog person than a bird person though. What about you? Do you have a favorite animal?

FFF Challenge Announcement

Have you ever tried Dimensional Glaze? There are other brands but this is the one I have. It's a type of glue that dries completely clear and kind of gives things a glassy look. I use it quite a bit. So this is what I picked for this Friday's challenge.

FFF Challenge Announcement

WHEW it's already July! Where did time go? This week Jen is trying to cool us off with her Christmas in July theme. Time to put away the bikini's and get out the mittens! Santa Claus is coming for a visit this week. Now what did I do with all those Christmas stamps?

FFF Challenge Announcement

My turn to pick the FFF challenge again. I decided since this Friday is the 4th of July that should be our theme. So anything patriotic will do. I have the perfect stamp for this one! I got it while we were in DC last year and it's time to dust it off.

So what do you do for the 4th? Any big plans? We have a BBQ to go to on the 5th, but I can't share the details with you yet it's kind of a surprise.

FFF Challenge Announcement

This week was Jen's turn. She decided we needed to use our Bella's. I only have 2 Bella's but I do have a few images from swaps. What kind of card should I make with these cuties? They always make great girlfriend cards!

Do you like Bella's? How many do you have and what are your favorite ones? I want to get more, but every time I go to the website I can't seem to narrow it down to just a few. No local stores carry them either so that's no help. What Bella would you be or haven't they made yours yet?

FFF challenge announcement

It's Sunday and y'all know what that means - FFF challenge announcement. For this week I challenged Jen to make a card using a unique fold. So anything that isn't your basic folded in half type card. This should be fun. I have a couple ideas I wonder what she is planning?
